Green Hall groundbreaking set for April 30

A groundbreaking ceremony for a new state-of-the-art engineering building — named in honor of the late Preston M. Green, an alumnus and former president and chairman of Southwest Steel — will be held at 5 p.m. April 30. Green Hall will provide lab and office space for the School of Engineering & Applied Science. Energy and water focus of Earth Day speech

Water and energy is the theme of an Earth Day seminar sponsored by the Department of Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering. Vision loss may be preventable in tumor disorder

Nerve cells in the body and in the brain react in opposite ways to the loss of a protein linked to a childhood tumor syndrome, School of Medicine researchers have found. The finding could be important to efforts to preserve the vision of patients with neurofibromatosis 1, a genetic condition that increases risk of benign and malignant brain tumors. FULL STORY

Celebrate French composer Poulenc at the Chancellor’s Concert April 25

The Washington University Symphony Orchestra and the Washington University Concert Choir will join forces at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 25, for the 2010 Chancellor’s Concert. The annual performance, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Department of Music in Arts & Sciences and will highlight the work of French composer Francis Poulenc. FULL STORY
